Annual Sports Awards Ceremony was held on 27th of January 2012 at the Peter De Abrew memorial Auditorium from 3.30 p.m. onwards.
Dr. Prasanna Gunasena – a renowned Neuro Surgeon graced the occasion amidst the many sports stars of the Island.

The Commerce Day was held on the 8th of December 2011 at the school auditorium. This years’ them was financial management.

The Chief Guest for the day was Deshamanya Bradman Weerakoon. The former Presidential Advisor.

The felicitation ceremony of teachers who rendered a service of more than 25 years to Musaeus College was held on the 9th of November 2011 in the school auditorium. Our Madam Principal who has served our alma mater for more than 45 years was felicitated specially on this grand occasion. The other 3 teachers who were given prominence were Ms. Mallika Peiris and Mrs. Theja Perera for their 40 years of service and Mrs. Nalika Thalagala for her 25 years of service. Some members of the support staff who has rendered a long service to Musaeus too were felicitated on this day.

English Day 2011

“GLAM”, the English Day 2011 organized by the LMD Society of Musaeus College was held on the 21st of October 2011 in the school auditorium. The Chief Guest for the day was Mrs. Chandra Amarasekera.

Students from grade 6-13 participated in this glamorous event.

The items for the day are as follows:

  • Grade 6 – A song from the movie ‘Rio’
  • Grade 7 – A scence from ‘Tangled’
  • Grade 8 – A doll dance
  • Grade 9 – ‘Love letters’
  • Grade 10 – Modern version of ‘Dear departed’
  • London Section – ‘Mind Your Language’
  • Grade 12 – Medley
  • Abraham Lincon walks at midnight by Thisuri Dematagoda
  • An extract from ‘Three men in a boat’ by Lishni Thilakaratne



Inter-School Do You Know Contest 2011 organized by the Quiz Combine was held on the 19th October 2011 at the school auditorium. The Chief Guests of the day were Miss. Kanthi Fernando and Mr. Edwin Ariyadasa.

There were two contests as Junior and Senior categories. In the junior division, Royal College became the Champions while Dharmaraja College emerged runners up. The joint winners of the senior category were Mahinda College and Dharmaraja College.

The Senior Prefect’s Induction Ceremony 2011/2012 was held on the 12th of October 2011 at the School Auditorium. The Prefects were inducted by principal, Mrs. S. Dandeniya.

Inter-House Athletic Meet 2011

The Inter-House Athletic Meet, the most awaited event of the school calendar, was held on the 15th of February 2011, commencing from 12.00 noon at the NCC Grounds, Colombo.

The event was graced with the presence of Mr. Hemaka Amarasuriya, Chairman of Singer Group Sri Lanka as the chief guest. After an afternoon filled with competitions from the four respective houses, Olcott House, captained by Mandakini Gunasekara, emerged champions of the event with Besant House, as runners up.

Inter-House Debating Competition – 2011

The Annual Inter-House Debating competition organized by the Debating Circle of Musaeus College was held held in two stages. The preliminary and semi final rounds were held prior to the Final round which was held on the 24th of May 2011 at the school Auditorium from 2.00 pm onwards under the guidance of Mrs. M. Solomonsz and Mrs. S Bandara.

Mr. Yohan Senerath, Mr. Viraga Perera and Mr. Mevan Benagala graced the event as the prestigious judges. Finally, Higgins House and Besant House emerged champions in the Junior and Senior categories respectively.

Inter-House Drama Competition – 2011

The annual Inter-House Drama competition of Musaeus College was held on the 30th of June, 2011 from 2.00 pm, onwards in the college auditorium. The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Janak Premalal and Mr. Jagath Chamila as the prestigious judges for the day. Magnificent performances were put up by all the four houses under a common theme of “Sambuddhathwa Jayanthi” acting out dramas based on a Buddhist influence. The winners were announced as Olcott House in first place with the Best female performance, best supporting actress and the best over-all performance. De Abrew House emerged second place with the best male performance.

Inter-House Swimming Meet – 2011

The Annual Inter-House Swimming Meet of Musaeus College was held on the 5th of July 2011 at the Singhalese Sports Club in Colombo with the presence of Mr. Mike Anthony as the chief guest. Six championship trophies were awarded to the most talented swimmers of the respective age categories and finally, De Abrew House was emerged Champions and Besant House as Runners-up.

Remembrance Day – 2011

The Founder Principal of our school. Mrs. Marie Musaeus Higgins was remembered with great respect and gratitude on her 85th death anniversary on the 9th and 10th July 2011. An overnight pirith ceremony followed by an alms giving was organized to pay tribute for the immense service rendered by our “Sudu Amma”.
